The Hyer-1 kayak built by Ozone Watercraft is made of molded Mylar construction weighs about 100 pounds and needs a younger owner, who can enjoy its features. The pedal drive system is mounted and sealed into the hull of the craft just in front of the operator seat. Due to its 17’ length and wide turning radius its intended use was on larger bodies of water like the ocean or lakes and not rivers. There are forward and aft compartments for stowing gear, with air bladders for each compartment for safety when empty. Two water-deflecting transparent water-shields are mounted on the forward half of the kayak to help keep the cockpit dryer while moving through waves. I have upgraded the original cafeteria style plastic seat with a recumbent operator seat utilizing a bicycle recumbent seat I found on E-bay, which was too hard on my back. So I added parts from a padded office chair to make the seat more comfortable. I'm older and found the original design to be a little unstable for me. So, I built a custom removable stabilizing outrigger that fits and bolts into the crossbar position just behind the recumbent operator seat. The bicycle style peddles can be peddled backwards and forwards for added maneuverability design along with the rudder control lever near the right hand of the operator. As a result this kayak is a perfect hands-free fishing platform that I have enjoyed using for years. I recently designed and built a lightweight aluminum framed marine vinyl cover for the cockpit to help keep the cockpit dry while traveling to and from home and the lakes. Also included in this offer is a custom built 17' trailer, with a 2" ball, inline 4 wiring and two new 15" 5-lug wheels with new tires on the ground. The rudder control and prop drop-down levers are operated from the cockpit. The kayak is in good shape and has always been stored indoors. The original fiberglass propeller has been replaced with a more aggressive brass propeller, and the fiberglass rudder has been replaced with a larger aluminum rudder. An aluminum keel strip has been fiber-glassed in place from the kayak’s nose down the middle of the hull to the tail of the kayak to form a keel. The kayak along with a 17’ customized Kayak trailer is for sale for $1,500. Original price for the Kayak was $2,400. I picked up the trailer before customizing it for $500. So, with all the added materials used to remodel and improve the kayak I have contributed well over $3,500 to this kayak you can be purchase for less than half of my original investment.
